If you suffer from discolored, cracked or misshapen teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help! There are various ways Dr. Christina Beckham can help you improve your smile. Visiting our office for a consultation will give you an idea of which options in cosmetic dentistry are best for you.

Fillings

Most people think of fillings as being a solution for cavities, however fillings can be used to repair damaged or cracked teeth as well by filling in the problem areas. Fillings, made of composite resin, are tooth-colored and blend in with your existing teeth. Fillings not only improve the look of your teeth, but also protect those damaged areas from further decay. With proper care, fillings can last for many years!

Veneers

For a discolored or misshapen tooth, veneers are often recommended to improve the overall appearance of the damaged tooth. Veneers are made of thin porcelain material and cover the entire front surface of the tooth to give it the look of an undamaged tooth. In a two-step process a veneer can be applied. At your first appointment, Dr. Beckham will check to see if your tooth needs to be buffed or shaped before the veneer is applied. An impression of your tooth will be taken for the shape of the veneer and the veneer will be color-matched to your surrounding teeth. During your second appointment, the veneer will be adhered to your existing tooth. A veneer can completely change your overall smile by correcting the appearance of a discolored or misshapen tooth. Veneers also last many years with proper maintenance.

Crowns

Crowns are used when veneers and fillings cannot fix the appearance of a tooth. When a tooth is decaying or severely damaged, many times a crown is recommended to cover the entire tooth to save it from further damage. The placement of a crown works as a protective barrier and can also save the surrounding teeth from being affected by a decaying tooth. Dr. Beckham will have a mold made of your tooth in order to create a custom-made crown. While waiting for the permanent crown to be made, a temporary crown will be placed over the damaged tooth. Once the permanent crown is ready, you will come in to have it put into place. Crowns are a great option to save a tooth from being extracted and save your other teeth from damage.
